Weight Loss - Kickstart your motivation

If you have had a weight problem for a long time, and you’ve tried lots of diets with little success, and you’re about to start on the Leisa’s Secret program, I need you to do something.
I want you to sit down, and ask yourself a question. Ask yourself, “Is this one really going to work?”
Look into your heart, be completely honest with yourself, or you’re wasting your time and setting yourself up for failure.
It’s very easy for long term overweight people to bounce automatically from one diet to another like a ball in a pinball machine. There’s no thinking involved, it’s just a matter of buying the ‘kit’, giving it a week of half hearted attempt, then throwing in the towel before eventually moving onto the next diet.
Let’s start with some home truths about dieting:
- All diets work. It’s true, it’s just a matter of finding one that suits you, one that’s a good fit for your personality and your lifestyle.
- If 100 different people followed exactly the same meal plan and exercise regime, at the end of three months, they would have 100 different results. Everyone’s body works in its own way, and responds to diet and exercise at a different rate. When it comes to losing weight and regaining your health, it’s not the duration of the journey that counts, but rather you do eventually get to your destination.
- Everyone will make small ‘mistakes’ at one time or another, the difference between someone who achieves their goal weight, and someone who just moves onto the next diet, is the ability to say: ‘That’s ok. I’ll get back on track now.” It’s what you do most of the time that counts.
Before you begin any diet and exercise program, you need to be fully aware of what you’re up against. Just as you probably didn’t put an extra thirty kilos on in three months, you can’t expect to lose it that quickly either, and yet many people do?
Losing weight is HARD WORK, both mentally and physically. You need to prepare yourself for the hard work, and the odd disappointment along the way. Weight, unfortunately, doesn’t come off neatly and methodically 1kg a week. Some people will lose 1.5kg or more in the first week of a program, others may lose none. However, you need to remember this: ‘If you change what you eat, if you change what you do, eventually, your body will change also’.
You need to work with your own personality also. Having a weekly weigh-in may be the perfect motivation for some people, but for others it will be quite the opposite. If you’re one of the latter, go by the fit of your clothes, or weigh yourself monthly instead. Don’t do anything to jeopardize your motivation.
When an alcoholic gives up alcohol, or a smoker gives up cigarettes, they need never have those substances in their lives again. When a chronic overeater finally comes to the realization they need to lose weight, or suffer horrendous health problems, they can’t give up food. Food demons can’t be banished, they can only be controlled.
It’s a good idea, prior to starting your program, to sit down and write how you feel right now. Does the excess weight make you miss out on social occasions, sport, meeting new friends, traveling, realizing your career goals? Do you always feel tired, bloated and unhappy? Do you not recognize the person in the mirror? Maybe you avoid mirrors altogether?
It’s so important to have these feelings on paper, because it’s not easy to break bad habits. Two weeks into the program, you may find those little food demons sitting on your shoulder, whispering into your ear, and they can be very convincing: ‘Go on, have a donut, you love donuts! You only live once! You deserve a reward! Just have one, no one will know! Have one, and you can go for an extra long walk tomorrow!”
Once you have done the mental preparation, Leisa’s Secret can arm you with what you need to reach your goal.
